VOCALOID Déjà Vu is an anime project first started by TalisMoon on deviantART. The goal of VOCA DV is not only to sum up the spirit of the VOCALOIDs and their fanbase, but also to reference many works by the producers in a way that viewers would experience a déjà vu sensation. Many basic concepts have been taken from songs and a suitable plot is being developed to honor all the creativity of songwriters and interpreters. The StorylineAfter facing many hardships and being left alone with almost no living family, a scientist finishes the creation of a highly advanced robot: Hatsune Miku. This marks the completion of his third successful android in a series which he has titled VOCALOID. The first of this series were MEIKO and KAITO who had been designed with an older system. The scientist—whom they refer to as Master—takes care of the robots and has instructed them not to reveal their existence as androids to anyone. Though a bit silly and sometimes clumsy, Master is a highly complex individual, with a sophisticated way of speaking and an advanced thought process. He is very responsible, and very compassionate, still managing to provide a luxurious and friendly atmosphere for all of them. However, unknown to this new family, his money is slowly being depleted—he has no source of income and has been living off his inheritance for years. Electrical mishaps and malfunctions have been occurring all throughout the city of Sapporo, Hokkaidou—slowly at first—and have only recently been becoming more frequent. One of these glitches causes a power outage only affecting the VOCALOIDs’ residency while Master is out. When a strange noise emanates from the downstairs laboratory, Meiko, Kaito, and Miku hesitantly head down to investigate. Upon entering, the three examine the old computer and come across a video message. As the video ends, a tiny robot resembling a spider crawls from the computer and immediately attacks. The team has a difficult struggle as more of the little machines come from the computer, and normal weapons seem to have little effect. Miku is eventually able to destroy the lot by unlocking an unknown ability called Battle Mode. It is later discovered to be an upgrade for her new system designed to protect against Viruses—the bots which had attacked them. The woman behind the creation of these Viruses is revealed to be a scientist who goes by the alias Viper. Not much is known about her—but the sinister yet refined aura surrounding her and an unexplained connection to Master guarantee this is just the beginning. The plot revolves around the defeat of Viper and her Viruses, but many miniature story arcs are also be interwoven in the tale. Within these arcs will be interlinking relationships and character development, with each VOCALOID getting to be the main character in an episode. There will be some more relaxed scenes to help lighten the mood from the darker themes in the anime and give a nice contrast, creating a similar structure to that of the VOCALOID songs. The Basic ConceptsTalented, suitable voice actors who are able to honor the VOCALOIDs are being chosen as substitutes for the actual programs. This is so that the words, which are in English, will be clear and understandable. However, as a bonus feature, scenes including concerts and other fun events will be redone with TALKLOIDs or with the original VOCALOID song. All appropriate pairings will be at least hinted at. This does include homosexual relationships but does not include pedophilic or incestual pairings. Some may be more evident than others; either to fit more consistently with their character or as a reflection of their popularity within the fanbase. Many VOCALOID songs will be played throughout the anime: the opening, the ending, background music, and possible radio broadcasts. Concerts—though sung by the voice actors—will also be another way to incorporate music. None of VOCALOID3 will be included because of their unclear personalities and the fact that they seem to be aimed in a completely different direction than past VOCALOIDs. Keep in mind that the majority of the characters in VOCALOID3 are still an unfinished project, and with all the new releases it is impossible to keep up-to-date. Most of the others, however, will be highly involved in the storyline, unless there is a specific problem, most commonly being without official concept art. Check the Character Personality journal for an official list. Every episode is about seven minutes long, not including the opening or ending credits. The number of episodes made will have to be determined on how much support the project gets over time from animators and script writers. The creation of this anime is a public group project for all eager VOCALOID fans. Every idea is considered and discussed to get the best possible result. Before a member suggests an idea, however, it is recommended they read the journal entries and understand the subject. Other than that, keep in mind that this anime is being made out of pure love for VOCALOID, and its main focus is to have fun! |
